This is a good question!! Yes, why not "go it alone". Surely this will be cheaper and more of an adventure?
Here are some thoughts on the subject for you to consider:
- You pay for the time spent on holiday. Do you really want to waste the short time available to you by :
- getting lost
- trying to work out routes
- driving in a strange country
driving perhaps on the wrong side of the road in rush hour traffic
- ending up in a dangerous part of town
REMEMBER:
South Africa does not have an adequate or particularly safe public transport system.
Cheaper to go it alone?
- Car Hire is expensive in South Africa.
- Travel insurance (compulsory when hiring a vehicle) is expensive in South Africa.
- Fuel is expensive in South Africa.
- Eating three meals a day is expensive.
REMEMBER:
When travelling with L&J Tours, everything is inclusive. This means no hidden expenses! This also makes it possible to budget exactly for your holiday of a lifetime! It means that you will not suddenly discover halfway through your trip that you have miscalculated and overspent!
Safety is a real factor to be considered when travelling in South Africa.
All countries have their "danger zones". The problem always is : knowing where they are! Travelling with experienced guides like Louis-John and Judy means that you will not venture into "no-go areas".
REMEMBER:
L&J Tours offers 24 hr service. Not for us the "afternoon at leisure" route so that the travel guides can have a free afternoon!!!!! We guarantee to be with you, for your safety and protection on every shopping trip or excursion.
What happens should you have an accident while on holiday?
What if you have a fall and break a bone - or worse? Unfortunately this can happen to you and you need to realise the implications of this.Should you be alone on tour, you would have to:
- Try to find medical assistance in this strange country
- Try to contact your medical insurance as no hospital or clinic in South Africa will treat you without assurance of a medical scheme, or cash up front. Few of them accept dollars, so you would have to have access to banking facilities - hard to accomplish when you are injured!!
- Hope that you would be able to drive yourself to the nearest hospital or clinic.
REMEMBER:
L&J Tours would be there to smooth the way. We would transport you to the nearest and best medical facilities. We would arrange payment through your medical scheme, or arrange cash from the bank for you. You would not be alone in times of trouble! Because we do not "mix" tours, there woulf be no need to just "abandon" you there while the tour continues. You would be with family or friends, who would all be concerned for your best interests.
Please feel free to contact us with any queries or further information. We will offer you prompt and caring service while you are on safari with us. This could really be your South African holiday of a lifetime!
